Pattachitra, the painting on cloth, is the folk art of the state of Orissa. The subject for the paintings are from mythological characters, tribals, and traditional. Bright colors used mostly are red, ochre, indigo, green, black, and white all obtained from the natural sources like Hingula, Ramaraja, Haritala, Lamp black, and shells. Now a days, synthetic colors are also used as per the need.
